REAL IDs: What to Know


Beginning October 1, 2018, Minnesota's REAL ID Driver's License and Identification Cards will be offered. Get more information here

State Identification Card


  • Submit proof of identity.
  • Verification of physical disability or mental disability needed for special fee I.D.
  • Have a photo taken.

Driver's License Duplicate


  • Submit proof of identity.
  • Make new application. If application is different than State computer, proof of identity is required.
  • See fee schedule.
Note: Applicants under 18 of age must have the application signed by parent or guardian and their signature must be notarized.

Driver's License Renewal


  • Submit current driver's license.
  • Take vision and peripheral test.
  • Have a photo taken.
