Drainage update 7/9/2018
Upcoming Drainage Hearings or Meetings:
Last week was a really productive week as far as projects go. With a break finally in the rainy weather, our contractors are getting back to speed with making repairs. Besides the two major improvement projects going on in the northeast part of the county, we still have multiple contractors making repairs from this spring. There are a few areas that have just been way too wet to get equipment in to make repairs.
As water levels slowly start to drop and go back down, I’m sure that more repairs will be needed on both tile and open ditch systems. We have had a fair amount of calls about issues, but please don’t be afraid to keep calling those issues in as you see them.
We are currently conducting a damage assessment countywide to see if we qualify for either state or federal funding to help with some of the damages from recent storms. We are far better off than some counties off to our west. I have personal reports from friends that live near Redwood Falls of 8-10 inches of water and sewage in some basements. Major road and infrastructure damage is also being reported.
Hope everyone had a good holiday week last week and that people were able to get out and enjoy the nice Minnesota weather for a change.
Recent Drainage Inspections – week of July 2 – July 6:
We require that all repairs to a county drainage system (tile or open ditch) be authorized by one us in the drainage office, either Craig or myself, before any repairs are made.
