Blue Earth County Community Solar Garden

Solar Panels

Below are some of the benefits of a community solar garden:

Saves Money by Lowering Energy Costs

In the long-run, there will be a lower monthly price for the electricity paid by Blue Earth County as a result of subscribing to a community solar garden. Solar energy costs have been substantially decreasing in the last 10 years, making this an investment opportunity with long-term, stable, inflation-protected returns.

Price Stabilization

The price volatility of fossil fuels, along with the difficulty of forecasting fossil fuel prices, could present a risk due to fluctuating energy rates. Recently, Xcel Energy proposed an energy rate increase of nearly 10% over the next 3 years. Adding solar energy offers greater stabilization of the County’s electricity costs. The community solar garden becomes an investment opportunity, while providing protection against unpredictable electricity prices.

Supports Local Blue Earth County Development

The community solar garden developers keep the money local by leasing the land from a local owner, and by generating local jobs to build, and manage the solar garden system.

No Initial Cost

By participating in the Solar Rewards Community Project, Blue Earth County does not pay the initial high costs of installing a solar energy system. Instead, it subscribes to a share of a community solar garden owned and operated by an energy company.

Clean Electricity

Solar, one of the fastest-growing industries in America, is 100% pollution free. It creates energy from sunlight instead of fossil fuels avoiding emission of greenhouse gases and other air pollutants. Therefore, making solar environmentally the most clean and green energy.

Aesthetically Appealing

There is no visual obstruction with solar gardens. They operate silently, have no-moving parts, and do not release offensive smells.

Economic Impact

The solar system provides energy independence. By producing the renewable energy at home, we purchase less fossil fuels, thus we contribute to a homegrown energy helping to secure America’s energy future.

Solar energy is inexhaustible so it will never run out.

Community Leader

Blue Earth County will be an example of using renewable energy resources while protecting the environment and saving money.
