Government Center Building Addition Opens

Now Open!

The Blue Earth County Government Center building addition will open to the public on Thursday, July 11. The 37,000 sq. ft. addition will house the majority of the County’s Human Services Department with the exception of Child Protection, which is temporarily located at the Justice Center. The Women, Infant and Children Clinic has also opened its doors in their renovated space.

The addition is part of a larger construction project that includes a new parking ramp, which recently opened, and renovation of the existing building. Construction on that space begins next week. The License Center will continue to operate out of their renovated location within the existing building during construction.

Signs outside and internal electronic maps at the Government Center will help residents navigate to the best entrance and route to access the department they’re visiting during construction. Please note:

  • Visitors to the License Center should park on 5th Street. There is no access from the parking ramp. Access is through Door B.
  • Visitors to WIC should park in the ramp and look for signs. There is no access from 5th Street. Access is through Door D.
  • Visitors to the Human Services Department can park on 5th Street or in the ramp. Access is through Door A, C or F.

Renovation of the existing building is currently scheduled to be complete in the spring of 2020.
