Adult Foster Care - Adult Foster Care homes located throughout the area offer room and board and supervision to adults who have a disability, such as a developmental disability or mental health issue, or who are elderly. The county agency is responsible for initial and ongoing licensing activities to ensure compliance with
Foster Care Rule 203.
Licensed homes include both corporate settings providing 24-hour supervision as well as family foster care situations. For more information, contact the licensor at 507-304-4172.
Chemical Dependency - Services include information, assessment and referrals to chemical dependency treatment options. Any county resident is eligible for a chemical dependency assessment. Funding for treatment is also available for eligible persons. Eligibility for cost-free treatment is based on income and insurance status.
A variety of treatment programs are utilized in the south central Minnesota area and throughout the state. Programs include licensed outpatient treatment, inpatient treatment, extended inpatient treatment, and halfway house care. Referral decisions are made on the basis of specific client needs and availability of space.
In addition to assessment and referral, education and consultation services are available as needed to individuals or groups.
Child Care Funding - The Child Care Assistance Program is designed to assist low income families so they can work, job search, or attend school. Child Care Assistance is subsidized with county, state, and federal dollars. The local agency takes applications for child care assistance, determines eligibility and co-pays (the amount the parent will pay toward care) and completes contracts with providers to facilitate payment.
Parents utilizing child care assistance may choose among licensed child care centers, licensed family day care settings, or utilize a legally non-licensed provider. Refer to
Family Daycare Licensing for more information.
Developmental Disabilities - Case managers work with people with developmental disabilities of all ages. After a determination of eligibility is made, case managers work with individuals to access needed services across a variety of settings, including the family home, schools, residential and vocational settings.
Family Daycare Licensing Completes orientation, licensing, and re-licensing of family day-care and group family day-care homes. Assists in selection of and training for day-care providers.
Vulnerable Adult/Adult Protection - The county agency serves as the designated entry point for receiving reports of maltreatment against adults considered vulnerable as defined by the
Vulnerable Adults Act. Services include assessment and investigation, as well as protective services and referrals to eligible programs.
