24-hour drop-off collection site available
Materials are accepted at the Blue Earth County Recycling Center commingled. That means containers may be placed together in the same bin, and mixed paper together in another bin. Only corrugated cardboard is separated from the paper. Commingled recycling makes it easier to recycle!
Our modern, drive-through facility offers an attendant to help unload recyclables. Materials are accepted free of charge (except where noted below) from residents and businesses in Blue Earth County during drive-through hours. Businesses with large quantities, please call ahead.
The following items are accepted at the drive-through Recycling Center:
Containers
- Glass beverage and food containers (No ceramics, auto glass, window panes, drinking glasses or other types of glass accepted)
- Aluminum cans
- Tin cans
- #1 Plastic containers, such as soft drink bottles (must have a neck and shoulders, no wide mouth)
- #2 Plastic containers, such as milk and detergent bottles (must have a neck and shoulders, no wide mouth)
Mixed Paper
- Newspaper
- Junk Mail
- Office Paper
- Magazines and catalogs
- Paperboard boxes such as cake, cracker and shoe boxes (no beverage containers or frozen foods containers)
- Books (remove bindings)
- Paper bags
Corrugated Cardboard
- Cardboard boxes (has a wavy layer in between) break boxes down and flatten
Textiles
- Old Clothing (no leather, belts, shoes, purses)
Other Materials Accepted at the Drive-Through
- Scrap Metal (no fee)

Blue Earth County also offers a convenient 24-hour drop-off for residential recycling. Materials accepted at the 24-hour drop-off include: Containers; Mixed Paper and Corrugated Cardboard. Please, no business quantities at the drop-off! Recycling Center Rates are subject to change.
