| Description |
This position receives 911 emergency and non-emergency call for service, dispatches, monitors, and responds to public safety personnel, operates computer aided dispatch and records management system, operates State and Federal computer systems, operates emergency paging software, operates Mobile Data Computer system, trains new personnel, operates 911 GeoLynx Mapping system, operates internal and external security system, and performs acting/fill-in supervisory functions. |
| Hours Worked |
Part-time dispatchers work a maximum of 29 hours per week. The hours may vary according to their assigned shift and are structured to meet call for service demand and the needs of the public served. This is a 24/7 emergency operation and most shifts include working parts of weekends. Currently, part-time dispatchers are scheduled to cover shifts every other weekend plus additional fill-in hours at a variety of times due to personnel shortages or unforeseen circumstances. The weekend shift work day may consist of either a ten-hour shift on Saturday and Sunday from 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. or 5:00 p.m. to 3:00 a.m. During on-the-job training, it is necessary to change shifts/days/hours in conjunction with training needs. |

Minimum Qualifications |
•High School Diploma/GED |

| Preferred Qualifications |
•Previous Emergency 911 dispatching experience
•Experience with computer aided dispatch system
•CJIS/NCIC terminal operator certification
•Ability to converse in a second language
•Literate in the use of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Access software programs
•Previous experience with CML Sentinel 911 and/or CIS CAD/RMS

•Must obtain passing score on practical comprehensive and oral examinations.
•Must satisfactorily complete a background check.
