Volunteer and Internship Opportunities
The Sexual Violence Resource Center offers both volunteer advocate and internship opportunities. Volunteer advocates and interns provide a crisis response and intervention for victims of sexual violence. Advocates are working professionals, community members and college students who wish to either volunteer their time or gain additional work experience.
Internships with the SVRC are designed to prepare undergraduate or graduate student for paid employment a human service field. These fields include, but are not limited to: victim services, victim assistance, sexual assault programs, crisis intervention work, services for youth victims, or any profession with victim contact work (shelters, probation, corrections, law enforcement, law, counseling, social work, etc.).
Both advocates and interns are required to the complete a state mandated 40-hour training. Blue Earth County provides this training at no cost to advocates and interns and asks that advocates volunteer for at least one year. Upon completion, the knowledge, skills, and abilities are gained to assist survivors of sexual violence and are transferable skills that can be applied to all areas of employment and life.
To learn more about each position and volunteering at the SVRC, please review the PDF files listed below.
